Chum on the run, heading upstream to spawn!

Wendy and her assistant walked Morrison four times in Oct.  Interesting to see a variety of species on the 14th, but very low numbers.  Maybe the next big weather system will get things moving a bit more.  It is amazing for the youth to witness salmon returning to spawn in Morrison Creek.  Outdoor classrooms are the best!  Below are the numbers observed:

Puntledge Park confluence to First Street culvert – Pinks: 4 alive, 281 dead
First Street culvert to Puntledge School footbridge – Pinks 241 dead (this number includes 43 dead in the side channel)
Puntledge School footbridge to Morrison Park footbridge – Limited time so we didn’t walk this part

First Street culvert to Puntledge School footbridge
        Pink 226 dead (this number includes 26 dead in the side channel)
Puntledge School footbridge to Morrison Park footbridge
        Pink 105 dead; coho 1 dead; chinook 1 alive
We checked the bridge at Lake Trail Road, but no fish.
