Morrison Creek Streamkeepers (MCS) have joined forces with the Comox Valley Land Trust (CVLT) to purchase land to create the Morrison Headwaters Nature Preserve! See the Short Video about this exciting project.

CalendarShotCVLT has signed an Agreement to Purchase 22 hectares of the headwaters for conservation. Now we need to raise $870,000 before 1 April 2019 to complete the deal. Sound impossible? We’re already 1/3 of the way toward the needed funds!!!

The property includes valuable tributary and mainstem habitat supporting healthy populations of salmon and trout as well as Critical Habitat for the red-listed Morrison Creek Lamprey. The extensive wetlands and second growth forest provide valuable habitat for a full range of large and small mammals, amphibians, rare plants and lots of birds. Every fall, large numbers of coho spawn on the property, and every other year a good run of pinks arrives. The entire Headwaters is a spring-fed complex of wetlands and tributaries which is essential for maintaining the health and productivity of the rest of the creek.

Donate to HELP US CREATE this new NATURE PRESERVE to give fish and wildlife a permanent home!

We have videos of some of the wildlife found here.
